120. on ISAF Open MR World Ranking

After 5th place on OM Lago di Ledro Match Race in early October and 2nd place last week at Austrian Open Championship we gained 39. places and climbed up on the new rankings release to 120. Top 100 is not that far away we will be in very soon. We are now second ranked team in Slovenia behind Jure Orel (33) and in front of Jon Brecelj (156).

2nd place in Austrian Match Race Championship

Last day started with rain but at least there was good wind to start races as planned at 10:00. At the breifing we made the draw for the semis and finals. Christian Binder (AUS) as Round Robin winner picked Nathalie Keller (SUI) and we were left to race Ute Wagner (AUT). We won the semis 2-0 with better prestarts and boathandling in the other semi Binder made no mistakes winning 2-0 againts Swiss girls.

We started finals with a perfect race from start to finish the score was 1-0. In the second prestart we penalized them for gybing to close but he started just ahead of us. They manage to do there pen in 2nd upwind cause of our small mistake with spinaker drop but we were just 1 boat lenght behind at the windward mark. They just manage to stay in front of us with a photofinish. The score was tied 1-1. Before the last race the wind increased to 15 with a lot of gusts and shifts. We manage to start ahead of them about but couldn't cross them at left layline so we rounded the top mark just behind them. Again we had problems with hoisting the spinaker and they just extend for a safe win. We are happy with our performance as we had to make last minute changes in team with no training. We would like to thank Mitja Nevečny for great effort in 3 days of sailing and Gabriele for racing with us on the last day.

First day we finished with 2-0

The day started with training for every team. We opened the racing with 2 flights and 2 wins in light winds than the long waiting(6 flights) for next match started. The RC finally stoped races just before our next match at 17:30. We are in first 2 flights tommrow.We are tied at 1st place with 2 teams at 2-0 so everything is opened for Round Robin winner.

Austrian Open Match Race Championship

After finish the Fleet races for Jix Cup (1st place) and Slovenian Cup (2nd place) we are turning our focus back to match racing. From 23. to 26.October we will compete in our next regatta the Austrian Open Match Race Championship. Do to the long 4 days schedule we had to invite some new faces in our team. Joining us in the regatta are Slovenian Olympic sailor Mitja Nevečny and from Croatian Frapa Sailing Team we will welcome Nevenka Čuk. Both previously sailed in the 470 Class.

The Venue will be Lake Neusiedl am See.

The Entry list includes 4. teams from Austria and 1. from Swiss, Poland, Slovenia and even Japan.

Zaključek pokala Slovenije 2010

Sezono na slovenski obali smo tako zaključili. V ciklu osmih regat za pokal Slovenije smo dosegli dobro 2. mesto v našem razredu in 3. mesto overall (sodelovalo je 70 posadk). Na zadnji regati smo se borili za prvo mesto z jadrnico Lepa, žal pa jo, kljub dobri borbi, nismo uspeli prehiteti. V točkovanju regat nam je žal zmanjkalo 0.8 točke do prvega mesta. .....ma dobro, sej ne mormo vedno zmagovat :)

Mi jadralne sezone še ne bomo zaključili, saj imamo v planu udeležbo na parih match race-ih. Začnemo z match race-om v Brindisiju (ITA), Šibeniku (CRO)....in mogoče še katerim....

Barcolana 10.10.10

Na letošnji Barcolani smo dosegli dobro 78. mesto od 1880 prijavljenih jadrnic. V naši klasi smo bili peti. Prehiteli so nas predvsem regatniki, kateri so v danih razmerah hitrejši od nas. Nam primerljivo konkurenco pa smo premagali. Vseeno, bravo za nas!! :)

5. mesto na Lago di Ledro

No, pa je za nami match race na lago di Ledro. Dosegli smo 5. mesto od osmih prijavljenih ekip. Rezultat je zadovoljiv glede na naše izkušnje in znanje.....tega pa bo vse več :), da se malo potolažimo.

V veselje nam je bilo tekmovati z vrhunskimi jadralci kot so Robert Scheidt ( dvakratni olimpijski zmagovalec v laserju in srebrn iz zadnjih olimpijskih iger v razredu star), Ian Ainslie (14. na world MR lestvici in udeleženec Americas cup-a ), Jacopo Pasini (25. na lestvici),......in še bi lahko našteval....in potem nekje zadaj mi :). Vzdušje v naši ekipi je dvigala predvsem konkurenčnost v določenih delih posameznih dvobojev. Tako smo proti Pasini-ju zgubili za 20 cm in proti Ainsli-ju, kljub našemu vodstvu in kazni za Ainslia na zadnji orci, uspeli izgubiti dvoboj.

Glede organizacije pa same pohvale. To regato bi lahko poimenovali tudi kulinarični match race, saj so nas vse štiri dni hranili z različnimi lokalnimi dobrotami.....vse pohvale!

Naj omenim, da je bila z nami tudi navijačica Jakica, ki je skrbela za nas in posnela nekaj zanimivih fotografij in filmčkov. Dva tudi pripenjamo.....
